Terminal closed for weather, containers unavailable

A typhoon closed the terminal for two days. Containers could not be picked up; demurrage ran anyway.

What the agent does

  1. Find the terminal closure notice and the contract's force-majeure or terminal-unavailability clause
  2. Check whether the container was available for pickup during the closure
  3. Recompute with the closure days excluded if the clause allows

What you get back

Dispute file citing the closure notice and clause; days excluded or, if the clause is silent, a goodwill request drafted instead.

Boundaries

If the contract is silent on terminal closures, the agent drafts a goodwill request and says the contractual basis is weak.
