Below the threshold
Most D&D invoices are a few hundred dollars. Below some amount it is cheaper to pay than to spend an hour building the case, and carriers know it. The pre-screen changes the arithmetic: every line is rated against the contract in seconds, and the desk opens full files only for the lines that are over-billed, ranked by amount.
Tracker
One row per dispute: shipment, carrier, cause, amount, status, dates, credit note reference. Statuses move when you tell them to, or when a credit note is uploaded and matched to the dispute.
Reports
- For the shipper: billed, disputed, recovered, by carrier and cause — the quarterly report key-account managers are asked for.
- For procurement: which free-time terms and which carriers generate the most disputes — the evidence for the next contract negotiation.
- For finance: open disputes by status with historical recovery rates applied, for the month-end accrual.
For forwarders and 3PLs with branches
Branch workspaces keep each office's disputes and carrier contacts separate; the Network plan rolls up reporting across them.
