Trucker caused the late return

The consignee released the empty to the trucker on day 2; the trucker returned it on day 7. Detention is billed to the consignee.

What the agent does

  1. Establish the handover date from dispatch records
  2. Attribute the days after handover to the trucker
  3. Draft the carrier dispute (if the contract allows) and the back-charge to the trucker

What you get back

Two documents: a carrier dispute where the contract permits, and a trucker back-charge with the EIR cited.

Boundaries

Whether the consignee can pass the charge to the trucker depends on the haulage contract; the agent reads it if uploaded and says if it is missing.
