Charges belong to the shipper under the Incoterm

Export detention at origin is billed to the consignee; under FOB the shipper is responsible for origin charges.

What the agent does

  1. Read the Incoterm from the B/L or booking
  2. Map the charge type and location to the responsible party
  3. Draft the redirection to the carrier with the party that should be billed

What you get back

Dispute file: wrong party; letter draft redirecting the invoice.
